PMHUB-G Chad did not memorized ITTO - he know them...

Notice that I did not memorize the other process groups or the ITTOs. I did however know them for the most part due to the exposure during reading, studying and simulated tests.

PMHUB-G Mastering ITTO - the tool

One way to master ITTO is this tool:

The LL that discuss how to use this tool:

To help with memorization I used Cherries spread sheet as a base and updated to my personal preference and study material.

http://pmhub.net/pmdigest/component/content/article/1-articles/122-cherries-itto-tables

For the brain dump I prepared to write the 9 knowledge areas, 5 process groups, Rita's planning steps and formulas. I later decided to skip the formulas as I knew them too well. My entire brain dump took 8 minutes and fit on one side of one piece of paper with room to spare.

PMHUB-G Project Management Tools for Home Projects

Below are two articles I wrote for Gantthead on personal project management and workflow.

If you ever built a house or managed a large home improvement project with various contractors, then you'll want to check out how I used Asana to manage my own home construction project.
(Even if you're not building a house, you'll benefit from the personal project management example)
>> Personal PM in Action: Building a House with Asana <<

Project management is typically comprised of tasks to produce an operational result.
Your clients and business customers likely use the results of your project over and over again in their daily business.
In IT, the customers use the system to support an operational business flow.

In this article, I demonstate how you can build a simple workflow tool to support repetitive process.
In this example, I show you how I manage content management and creation for the Tactical PM blog and a few others.
>> Using Trello for Personal Project Workflow <<

Thanks!

PMHUB-G VP Jain Passed PMP by Sheer Fear of Failure

Tips

1. Started informing my friends, colleagues and my manager that i am going to take the PMP examinations. I am from the IT field and my team members are either "Certified Microsoft Professionals" or "Certified Java Professionals". So for some who did not know about PMI i had to explain them about it and importance of certification.

Flash forward to 3 months prior to the eligibility period ending for taking the exam.  I scheduled the exam, giving myself 2.5 months — 2 weeks to gather any test taking material and develop a studying gameplan, and the rest of the time (2 months) to study for the exam

PMHUB-G 55 and now a PMP

Being 55 yrs of age with difficulties in concentration , memory , focus ,arthritis , work load in my present job, I took this up in a mental framework and attitude of 'learning' something instead of the 'know it all' attitude. Attended the eligibility classes on 5 consecutive weekly-offs during which time I normally sleep after lunch. Was difficult even to keep awake at these classes. The last exam I gave was 32 yrs ago and it was very difficult to memorise even simple formulas like CPI=EV/AC

PMHUB-G Ajit said: Focus on Risk Mgmt, memorize ITTO if you can but......

I personally did not find many questions that was outside the material I had used to prepare. There were definitely questions that could have the 2 right answers and you had to select the best one. But if you are prepared well enough, then it makes it easier. Focus on Risk Management. Learn it inside out. Memorize the ITTOs if you can. But there was lot of focus on risk so make sure its a key area of focus. Earned value calculations were pretty easy. Read the PMI professional code of ethics since there may be questions that you dont realize but are referencing the code of ethics. Did i mention know Risk Management? Yes. It was that important and I am glad I read someone else's LL since they had mentioned the same.

PMHUB-G Jim Owens: Who Writes the Project Charter?

.... And this is what I have been teaching project managers for years. But you wouldn't believe the struggles I've had to get some PM's to accept it.

They argued that only a sponsor could draw up a charter, but my response was that many sponsors don't have the necessary skills or training required to write a charter, yet it's well within a project manager's capabilities.
