The eligibility period, as far as I understand, is 1 year independent of holding times. Have a look at the paper test. The time PMI takes to give you a result will not interfere with the eligibility period.
The time to collect 60PDUs is 3 yrs, independent of holding time and absolutely no problem to full fill. Don’t worry about this.

Remaining 35 days before the August 31 change date:
Details here: http://www.pmhub.net/pmdigest/component/content/article/1-articles/141-changes-in-pmp-exam-august-30-2011
PMHUB is unable to answer inquiries to following scenarios:
1. What will happened if you failed - what is the date of eligibility of you writing the exam? How is the eligiility period calculated, including or excluding the 4-6 weeks of PMI holding time?
if you failed the exam on your first attempt you may re-test up to 2x within one-year eligibility period by submitting a completed re-examination form and paying the associated re-examination fee (currently $275 for PMI members). After the third unsuccessful attempt, you have to wait one year from the date of your last test before re-applying and attempting to test again. If your one-year eligibility period expires without having passed the examination you must re-apply for the credential. Re-examination applications can be filed online or on paper.
2. The time to collect 60 PDU or reccertification, is it including or excluding the 4-6 weeks of PMI holding time?
At present, 60 PDU or certification is needed every 3 years
We can only offer this suggestion:
if you cannot write the exam before the date, it is suggested to write the exam in 2012, when the air is clearer and the dust has hopefully settled down and it is better before the PMBOK 5 intro (another big change coming in 2012)

Dear Experts,
I am preparing for the PMP examination now a days. I had completed my
35 PDU's/Contact Hours through Astrowix in July-2009. I have the
certificate of the same also from Astrowix for completing 35 pdu's.
I am having a doubt/not sure about the validity of this 35 pdu's which
I had earned by attending the instructor let training on PMP. ( on
PMBOK version-4)
Can I apply for the PMP test by submitting this 35 pdu's of July-2009.
Is there any validity period like after acquiring 35 pdu's you have to
appear for the PMP exam.
Please guide me. If this is not valid then is there any alternative
cheap way for getting again 35 contact hours through web learning or
distant learning.

Appreciate your help and LL. However, please note: 1. I completed the whole course (for more than 35 hours) and waited patiently for the course completion notice/test. 2. After that, I submitted this query on their website as well as emailed Joesph philips himself and another helpdesk id. But still, I did not receive any response. 3. I also understand that I do not need the proof of completion for filling up the application, but any course that an individual attends should notify the completion promptly. Thanks for your support again, but I do not want to spend my time arguing on this. --- On Thu, 7/7/11, PMHUB <pmhub@pmhub.net> wrote:
