Re: PMHUB-G What Agile project management tool you are using and how do you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10?

We used Basecamp and were comfortable using it. But found out that we do mostly files sharing and as a result using an SVN tool for file sharing proved more effective.

PMHUB-G Kim Westbrook's LL

Another study element I added during the last few weeks of my studies was to reproduce the Process Map and write down as many formulas as I could every other day. I put in a day between to see if I was really retaining the information. At the end I was able to successfully reproduce the Process Map in the appropriate order and sequence of activities and could produce 25 formulas and what they were used for; this is important for the EAC formulas. OH, ITTO's, you do not need to remember them verbatim. You need to UNDERSTAND the processes and how they relate to one another. Know the difference between an input, an output and a tool. One trick is that Tools and Techniques tend to be verbs or methodologies and can easily be differentiated from a tool and an output. Know which process creates what and the rest just makes sense. Yes I read the ITTO's (actually had my daughter go through them and see if I could identify if they were an input, output or a tool and she would tell me which knowledge area we were in but would randomize the actual process which I had to tell her along with which process group it belonged to (e.g., Initiation, Planning, Executing, etc.)). This turned out to be a really good way for me being able to differentiate between the three and on simulated tests I rarely got these questions wrong.

This is the final  installment of JIMBOK 4th ed

Procurement in the Fourth Edition of PMBOK has contracted down to four processes from six, and PMI has removed explicit mention of "contacting" in the process names, but none of the functionality has been lost of course. And although we normally think of procurement processes as being between a buyer and seller, these same processes are equally applicable to work performed for other units of the project team's organization.

Some areas of Quality management may seem a little strange, as they are derived from process management. Many people who attempted the exam reported that the definitions and an overview of the charts are very important in this section – expect around 15 questions on these alone. PMHUB-G How John got his PMP at first try

I also have to say researching on the LL's from pmhub helped me out tremendously, I read on a fellow member's post that to use a brain dump strategy right after you start the tutorial at the test site. I took this method and I added my own twist, I practiced the brain dump and I timed myself, each time I did one I tried to keep it under 15 minutes. Since the tutorial is only for 15 minutes.
My brain dump consisted of the entire KA and PG grouping from PG. 43, all of the formulas that Rita mentions in her book, all of the estimate ranges CPI/SPI interpretations and Sigmas. The best time I scored was 12:30 Min. which was the day before the test. This preparation method helped me greatly since I am a very nervous test taker, and I didn't want to have a brain freeze at the test site.

For me, memorization was only good for the EV formulas. The exam is testing your understanding and knowledge of what to do in specific situations for the various processes. The only way to gain that knowledge is to understand each process in it's entirety: 1)what is the intent of the process 2)what do you need to complete it (inputs) 3)how do you go about doing it (Ts/Ts) and finally 4)what do you get as a result when it is completed (Os).

PMHUB-G Re: Exceptional Customer Service Vs Gold Platting

Hi Dr. Chan,
"Gold Plating" is defined to be the customer paying for something they
neither need nor want. Now, it is POSSIBLE that some customers don't want
better customer service, but I find that hard to believe in most cultures.

Having said that, given much of Asia remains very much price, rather than
value, driven, given the choice between more or better customer service and
lower cost, some clients in Asia will opt for the lower cost......

Not ours, however....... ;-)
