PMHUB-G New LL today: Ashley Larson is NOW a PMP

Great News. New LL in PMHUB Blog: great story of how one PM become a PMP -
Ashley Larson's PMP LL is published  http://linkbee.com/AshleyLL

IMPORTANT note: PMHUB do not accept announcement that a member passed the exam. The best way to celebrate your achievement is to write your Ll. Nothing else is worth to read. Announcing that you pass will not benefit the readers and not even you benefit. From 70,000 members, it is very likely that 99.99% do not know who you are... so what is the use of announcing?

PMHUB-G Lessons Learned from New Exam ( based on PMBOK 4th ed)

Lessons Learned is the most important start and end of any PMP/CAPM aspirants.

You end up your exam project by writing your own LL.You leave a legacy for others to follow.

This is the list of  Lessons Learned from the new PMP Exam"

PTOSCO: Passed CAPM (4th ed PMBOK) Sept 12, 2009: LL (this is important to read: the new CAPM and PMP Exam mixed both PMBOK 3rd and 4th ed - Sept 15, 2009)

Steve Watson, PMP: Lessons Learned from my PMP exam experience

Great News! Ajit: Passed PMP on Sept 5, 2009. http://linkbee.com/ajitLL

Alexius Emejom, August 29:   http://linkbee.com/AlexELL

Sow – Passed PMP on First Try..Aug 22,2009
Jim-BC: Passed PMP on Aug 13 2009
Tordub: Passed PMP , July 14, Dublin

Great study method used by Roger Chou for PM ABS students to achieve 99.5% passing rate in the PMP Exam

Roger, Chou, PgMP: How to Overcome the Challenge of New PMP Exam

The first PMP to pass the new Exam is from Taiwan, Gibson Yu (as confirmed by PMI). He was a student of PM ABC (http://www.pm-abc.com/)  He passed the exam on July 1 - his birth date, what a coincidence.

PMHUB-G Pertinent Point to Ponder - PMBOK 3 - PMBOK 4th or both?

"One thing I found extremely frustrating was that the exam used 3rd edition and 4th edition PMBOK terminologies interchangeably. I'm not sure if this was a mistake, since they had just recently converted to 4th edition, or if it was intentional (since the changes are listed in the appendix and are therefore fair game). Either way, this inconsistency made me livid during the exam, and if you've studied ONLY 4th edition, you're certainly going to get things mixed up. For example, one of the questions mentioned a "Select Sellers" process, which does not exist in 4th edition; it's now part of Conduct Procurements."

PTOSCO: Passed CAPM (4th ed PMBOK) Sept 12, 2009: LL
and for further reading before the exam: Summary of PMBOK 3rd edition vs PMBOK 4th edition & references

PMHUB-G Jospeh Phillips: How to initiate a Project

The first process group in the project management lifecycle is initiating. Initiating allows the project to be authorized. It allows the project manager to act on the project sponsor's behalf, and it empowers the project manager to lead and manage the project team to complete the project's scope. While initiating seems like a small and quick process group if it's not done properly the project can be haunted from the start.

PMHUB-G Re: Does anyone have the total numbers of PMP's as of June of 2009? How about the membership composition by sector?

Thanks again, Edgar……..   At one time, they used to……..  The last data I have on the breakdown of membership by sector and by geographic region was around 2003 or 2004.

Another very interesting piece of data that is missing or hard to come across…….   Our corporate training records show we have certified over 3,000 PMP’s here in Indonesia, but according to the Chapter records, they can only account for about 600.  Now, I realize that some of them were expats who probably left the country, but that is only about 10% of our total.  And we are not the only training provider…….  So something seems amiss with those numbers as well……

I SUSPECT (but haven’t bothered to research it in any detail) that a lot of the people we have trained and got certified over the past 20 years or so, have failed to renew their PMP?  We know of maybe 10 or 12, but that is only anecdotal information…….

Anyone seen any data on what the renewal rates are?

Hi Colleagues,

PMI used to post the total numbers of PMP’s and the last numbers I have (as of June of 2008) put the membership at ~375,000 and the total number of PMP’s at ~400,000.

Does anyone have any official numbers as of June of 2009?

(I’ve already checked the PMI website and the latest annual report, and have run several Google searches and can find nothing that gives the latest real or hard figures other than a reference to “over 500,000 members”)

Many thanks!!!

Many thanks, Hector…….   I appreciate this very much…….

It raises some interesting ethical questions about PMI’s marketing policies, because if you look at the PMI website, reference is made to “membership in excess of 500,000”.  So what is “truth” here?

Also, what does it mean if an organization has certified more people than are members (~370,000 certified vs ~306,000 members?)

What message does this tell you about the “real” reason the organization exists?  Does it exist to sell certifications, books and other materials or does it exist to serve the needs of the member/owners in the practice of project management? (as was promised in writing back in 1998 or thereabouts to get the members to vote for policy governance model, which is how we lost control of the organization to the professional organization managers.)

Just some questions to ponder as you study for your PMP exam and pay for exam fees, books etc etc……..  (For those interested, also be sure to download PMI’s annual report and ask yourself what any legitimate 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional organization is doing with over 100 MILLION dollars in assets……..  Hmmmmmm…………????? )

Subject: PMHUB-G Does anyone have the total numbers of PMP's as of June of 2009? How about the membership composition by sector?

Hi Colleagues,

PMI used to post the total numbers of PMP’s and the last numbers I have (as of June of 2008) put the membership at ~375,000 and the total number of PMP’s at ~400,000.

Does anyone have any official numbers as of June of 2009?

(I’ve already checked the PMI website and the latest annual report, and have run several Google searches and can find nothing that gives the latest real or hard figures other than a reference to “over 500,000 members”)

Many thanks!!!

Dr. PDG, Jakarta

PMHUB-G Re: Does anyone have the total numbers of PMP's as of June of 2009? How about the membership composition by sector?

Hmmmmmm…………????? )
