I have been monitoring PMPHUB web visits stas and the number of transactions of PM Prepcast family (from Cornelius Ficthner), PMP Prep Kit from Joseph Philip and notice a big surge. The PMHUb web stats in the last 2 weeks surge by +20 to +30%... and from past expeieince this means that another new PMP exam is coming :-)
I guess PMP aspirants realized that they need to commit themselves to complete their PMP Exam project before August 31, 2011, or else face uncertainties relating to the new exam. A change of 30% in content is significant and most do not want to be in the first batch to write the neew exam where there are simply too many unknowns - facing bigger risks.
Psychologically, commmitting ourselves by acquiring resources and studying is a good way to pressure ourselves to be in combat mode.
Without this - time will slip away and in 6 months you realized that you are still an aspirant and have to face a new exam
My suggestion if you are PMP aspirant:
0. get brief ideas and get rid of myths surrounding the exam by visiting PMHUB digest: http://pmhub.net/pmdigest
1. plan to get your PMP before July 2011
2. make sure to read the LLs published in PMHUB blog: http://pmhub.net/wp and get tips and tricks and plan approach how to pass the exam
2. commit yourself to certain PMP study materials and acquire this ASAP
What is coming? In a nutshell:
For PMP aspirants:
1. new exam will start 31 August 2011. You still have 6 months before facing a new PMP Exam.
2. no changes to PMP Exam eligibility (contact hours and experience hours etc)
Changes expected:
1. August 31, 2011: new exam. Still based on PMBOK 4,
2. Exam content changes: around 30%. Example: Professional responsibility is now tested as exam questions in every domain based on the question's relevancy
If you are a PMP - no impact at this moment. However the CCR may be revised
