Thanks again, Edgar…….. At one time, they used to…….. The last data I have on the breakdown of membership by sector and by geographic region was around 2003 or 2004.
Another very interesting piece of data that is missing or hard to come across……. Our corporate training records show we have certified over 3,000 PMP’s here in Indonesia, but according to the Chapter records, they can only account for about 600. Now, I realize that some of them were expats who probably left the country, but that is only about 10% of our total. And we are not the only training provider……. So something seems amiss with those numbers as well……
I SUSPECT (but haven’t bothered to research it in any detail) that a lot of the people we have trained and got certified over the past 20 years or so, have failed to renew their PMP? We know of maybe 10 or 12, but that is only anecdotal information…….
Anyone seen any data on what the renewal rates are?

Publicly, PMI doesn´t publish those figures. I’ll try to obtain certain information and statistics about that areas.

Total Scheduling Professionals (PMI-SP)®: 164
Total Risk Management Professionals (PMI-RMP)®: 192
Worldwide there are 250 PMI Chapters with total chapter membership close to 195,000.

Hi Colleagues,
PMI used to post the total numbers of PMP’s and the last numbers I have (as of June of 2008) put the membership at ~375,000 and the total number of PMP’s at ~400,000.
Does anyone have any official numbers as of June of 2009?
(I’ve already checked the PMI website and the latest annual report, and have run several Google searches and can find nothing that gives the latest real or hard figures other than a reference to “over 500,000 members”)
