PERT is a mathematical method of estimation within 3 point estimation
(Optimistic+4xNormal+Pessimistic)/6 and that for not a diagram method. I
believe, the perversion of those terms is in part created by MS, when they
used in early versions of MS-Project the term PERT/CPM Network, changed to
Network diagram in version 2000. But you can find the term even in early
books from Max Wiedeman and others.
Activity vs. Task: This isn't a PMISM, but a language definition:
Activities have Tasks. Expl.: Your activity is to clean up the room. One of
the tasks should be to clean the table.
