Congratulations on passing your PMP Exam. While these are nice
lessons learned, my question to you is now that you have your PMP,
what is your plan to take your career to the next step and actually
build your COMPETENCY in project management?
Surely you don't believe that studying for 35 hours and passing a 200
question multiple choice exam with a passing score of =>62% really
means you are a professional project manager?
Having been around for a long time now, and having trained thousands
of project managers, I see a disturbing trend that people spend all
kinds of time, energy and money on getting their PMP, without
realizing that unless those holding the PMP can demonstrate that
having it results in "better" project management, the real if not
perceived value of the PMP is diminished.
For those of you aspiring to get your PMP, keep in mind that unless
those who came before you add respect and credibility to the
credential by being able to better manage projects, the whole thing
becomes a sham.... Nothing but smoke and mirrors.......
So what I would really recommend is to spend as much or more energy
AFTER getting your PMP to ensure it has real value, than you did in
getting it in the first place. And the next focus needs to be on
building COMPETENCY.......
To do anything less will result in all that work being for
nothing......
